               The diffusor

Related to the construction in the air and create a wind power station on a device carrier, it is possible to place a diffusor after the wind turbine.

A suitable approch is from Yuji Ohya, he is a professor at the Research Institute for Applied Mechanics at Kyushu University in Japan.

He is an expert of the "wind lens turbine" (WLT) and developed different kinds of WLTs. and calculated it with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and with real small wind turbines.

The structure is as follows:

This new wind turbine system consists of a diffusor with a brim around the wind turbine.

The factor is around 2-5 times compared with a bare wind turbine, it depends  on the diffuser

shape and length and the brim height.


One advantage is that, the increase of the power is starting from the beginning of the relevant

wind speed for a high-altitude wind power station.

For the smaller version with an increase of 2.5 times, the weight is lower.

In the calculation for the business plan the amount of 2.2 was used.


If it is possible to get a uplift with additional support hoses the long variant of the diffusor can be used, for this the calculation in the business plan for the diffusor was 4.4

Other kind of diffusors are also possible, A general requirement for the diffuser is as few

moving parts as possible and a low weight.

This is also fulfilled with the Omni-Shroud-Diffusor.

In a first approach the weight is around 40-50 % lower than with a brim diffusor.
