UPDATE: Gear and turbo compressor
The first is, that a greater mechanical energy can be forwarded with a lower weight of a gear.
To change a power of 50 MW into constant revolutions the weight of the hydrostatical gear related to the actual technology
is around 45 tons and for 100 MW the weight is 87 tons.
The second is, that the hydrostatical gear can produce constant revolutions related to the construction with the factor 4.
For example, this means between a wind speed of 16 m/s and 64 m/s it's possible to produce constant revolutions.
The turbo compressor was chosen, because of the low weight and the performance.
Until today, there was no reason to look for a lightweight design of a turbocompressor and a lightweight design of a hydrostatical gear.
This is one new challenge. A new material for the turbo compressor can be Carbon.
The weight of carbon is around 75 % times less than steel and 3-4 times more resilient.
In a first analysis there are no complaints against it.
Carbon is suitable up to 350°degree Celsius.
UPDATE: To reduce the weight, the hydrostatic gear is currently being reconsidered.
Due to the design of the hydrostatic gear, not all components can be manufactured in lightweight construction.
For example, fluids are needed, these can not be changed.
The hydrostatical gear can be replaced with a gear that can be manufactured completely in a lightweight construction.
